A rich and creamy garlic mushroom dish that’s perfect as a side or main course.

- 500g (1 lb) mushrooms (button or cremini), washed and dried
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup vegetable or chicken broth
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme or Italian seasoning
- Optional: Red pepper flakes for a hint of spice
Instructions
- Prep the Mushrooms: If the mushrooms are large, cut them in half. Smaller mushrooms can be left whole.
- Cook the Mushrooms: In a large pan over medium-high heat, add the olive oil and half the butter. Add the mushrooms and season with salt and pepper. Sauté the mushrooms for about 5-7 minutes until they start to brown and their liquid is released.
- Add the Garlic: Lower the heat to medium and add the remaining butter. Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for another 2 minutes, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- Create the Cream Sauce: Pour in the heavy cream and broth, stirring to combine with the mushrooms. Add the Parmesan cheese and stir until the cheese has melted into the sauce. Sprinkle in the thyme (or Italian seasoning) and adjust salt and pepper to taste.
- Simmer: Allow the sauce to simmer gently for about 5 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- Finish: Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped parsley and optional red pepper flakes before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add a splash of white wine before adding the cream.
- If you prefer a thicker sauce, let it simmer a few extra minutes.
- Serve over pasta, rice, or toasted bread for a complete meal.
- Adjust the garlic per your taste preference for a more or less intense flavor.
