Description

Delicious crispy beef egg rolls filled with a savory mixture of ground beef and vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 20 sheets egg roll wrappers
  • 2 cups cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 cup carrot, julienned
  • 1/2 cup green onions, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • sweet chili sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.
    • Add garlic, cabbage, carrot, and green onions to the skillet. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
    • Season the mixture with soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and let the mixture cool.
  2. Assemble the Egg Rolls:
    • Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with a corner pointing toward you.
    • Spoon 2 tablespoons of the beef mixture onto the lower third of the wrapper.
    • Fold the corner over the filling, then fold in the side corners and roll tightly.
    • Moisten the top corner with water and seal the edges. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  3. Fry the Egg Rolls:
    • Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy skillet to 350°F (175°C).
    • Carefully add the egg rolls to the oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.
    • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve the crispy beef egg rolls hot with sweet chili sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil is hot enough before adding egg rolls to prevent them from becoming greasy.
  • You can add other vegetables like bell peppers or bean sprouts for added flavor.
  • To make ahead, prepare the rolls and freeze them uncooked. Fry directly from frozen, adding an extra minute to the cooking time.
