Description

Delicious orange-flavored sweet rolls, perfect for breakfast or dessert!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large fresh oranges (zest and juice)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix in melted butter, sugar, salt, and orange zest. Gradually add flour to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle (12×18 inches), spread with softened butter, sprinkle with sugar and orange zest.
  6. Roll tightly into a log, slice into equal pieces, and place in a greased baking dish to rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Drizzle with glaze made from powdered sugar and fresh orange juice.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm but not too hot to avoid killing the yeast.
  • For best results, use fresh orange zest and juice.
