Sweet and Spicy Sauce

Description

A delicious sweet and spicy sauce perfect for chicken, tofu, or beef.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (more or less, optional to taste)

Instructions

  1. Heat a pot on the stovetop over medium high heat. Add all ingredients EXCEPT the cornstarch and water.
  2. Once this starts to bubble, in a small dish whisk the cornstarch and water together until it is a smooth white mixture, pour this into the pot and stir for a few minutes so it thickens.
  3. Remove from heat and pour on top of chicken, tofu, beef, or cool and store in jars for later.

  • This sauce can be stored in jars for later use.
  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes according to your spice preference.
