Description

A delightful and easy dessert made with juicy Granny Smith apples, sweetened to perfection and spiced with cinnamon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium Granny Smith apples (Other varieties like Honeycrisp or Fuji can be used.)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (Freshly squeezed is best.)
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar (Can be substituted with maple syrup.)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (Adjust based on cinnamon preference.)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (Omit for milder taste.)
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey (Select based on flavor preferences.)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (Mix with water before adding.)
  • 1/4 cup water (Adjust if receiving burn notice.)

Instructions

  1. Begin by peeling, coring, and slicing your Granny Smith apples into ½-inch pieces. Toss them with lemon juice in a bowl to keep them nice and fresh.
  2. Transfer the sliced apples to your Instant Pot. Mix in dark brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and maple syrup, ensuring even coverage for a delightful flavor.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together cornstarch with a little water to form a smooth slurry. Pour this into the Instant Pot, stirring well to avoid lumps and ensure thickening.
  4. Secure the lid on your Instant Pot, making sure the valve is sealed. Set to high pressure and cook for just 1 minute.
  5. Once the cooking time is up, perform a quick release of the pressure. Gently stir the apples, mixing in that luscious syrup before serving.

Notes

  • This recipe can be doubled if you’re serving a larger group.
  • For a healthier option, consider reducing the amount of sugar or using a sugar alternative.
  • Adjust cinnamon quantity based on personal preference for spiciness.
