Description
Deliciously sweet and tangy cinnamon apples made easily in the Instant Pot.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium Granny Smith apples (Other varieties like Honeycrisp or Fuji can be used.)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice (Freshly squeezed is best.)
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar (Can be substituted with maple syrup.)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (Adjust based on cinnamon preference.)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (Omit for milder taste.)
- 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey (Select based on flavor preferences.)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (Mix with water before adding.)
- 1/4 cup water (Adjust if receiving burn notice.)
Instructions
- Begin by peeling, coring, and slicing your Granny Smith apples into ½-inch pieces. Toss them with lemon juice in a bowl to keep them nice and fresh.
- Transfer the sliced apples to your Instant Pot. Mix in dark brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and maple syrup, ensuring even coverage for a delightful flavor.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together cornstarch with a little water to form a smooth slurry. Pour this into the Instant Pot, stirring well to avoid lumps and ensure thickening.
- Secure the lid on your Instant Pot, making sure the valve is sealed. Set to high pressure and cook for just 1 minute.
- Once the cooking time is up, perform a quick release of the pressure. Gently stir the apples, mixing in that luscious syrup before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider adding a splash of vanilla extract.
- Serve warm with ice cream for a great dessert!
