Description
A rich and festive Halloween treat with swirls of cream cheese and colored white chocolate.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 8 oz dark chocolate, coarsely chopped
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- Orange food coloring
- Black food coloring
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides. This will help lift the brownies out later.
- Melt Chocolate and Butter: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and dark chocolate over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
- Combine Ingredients: Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the sugar and egg mixture, stirring continuously. Add the flour and salt, mixing just until combined.
- Color the White Chocolate: Melt the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until fully melted and smooth. Divide into two portions. Color one portion with orange food coloring and the other with black food coloring.
- Prepare Cream Cheese Mixture: In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Divide the cream cheese mixture and color half with orange food coloring.
- Assemble the Brownies: Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Drop dollops of the cream cheese and colored white chocolate mixtures evenly over the surface. Add the remaining brownie batter and repeat the dollop process with the remaining cream cheese and white chocolate.
- Create the Swirl: Use a skewer or knife to swirl the mixtures together, creating a marbled effect.
- Bake: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan.
Notes
- Ensure the cream cheese is softened for easy mixing and swirling.
- Feel free to adjust the amount of food coloring to achieve the desired shade.
- For a fudgier brownie, bake for slightly less time, checking frequently.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting to ensure clean slices.
