Description
A delicious flaky pastry filled with fresh fruit and a creamy filling.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package puff pastry sheets (thawed if frozen)
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup fresh mango, diced
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (plus extra for dusting)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pastry: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut the pastry into desired shapes or sizes.
- Assemble the Pastry: Place the pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top of each pastry with the egg wash. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
- Prepare the Cream Filling: In a bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, beating until fully combined. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture.
- Assemble the Pastries: Once the pastry is baked and cooled, slice it horizontally. Spread a generous layer of the cream filling on the bottom half. Arrange fresh strawberries and mango on top of the cream.
- Finish and Serve: Place the top half of the pastry over the fruit and cream. Dust with powdered sugar for decoration.
Notes
- Ensure the puff pastry is well chilled before baking to achieve the best flaky texture.
- Experiment with different fruits like blueberries, raspberries, or kiwi for added variety.
- Serve immediately for the best texture, as the pastry may soften with time.
- If you prefer a sweeter touch, drizzle some honey or a light fruit glaze over the top before serving.
