This homemade bread is soft, delicious, and perfect for sandwiches or toast.
Ingredients

- 6 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups warm water
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 tablespoons dry active yeast
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 10–15 minutes until frothy.
- Add salt and oil to the mixture, then gradually mix in the flour one cup at a time until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, divide it into two loaves, and place in greased loaf pans.
- Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes until dough reaches the top of the pans.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Remove from pans and cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For best results, ensure your yeast is fresh.
