Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
- Gradually add warm water while stirring until it forms a shaggy dough.
- Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough gently and shape it into a loaf.
- Place in a greased loaf pan or on parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
Notes
- For best results, knead the dough thoroughly to develop gluten.

- Store leftover bread in a paper bag to keep it fresh.
