Ingredients

  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
  2. Gradually add warm water while stirring until it forms a shaggy dough.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough gently and shape it into a loaf.
  6. Place in a greased loaf pan or on parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
