Description

A delicious garlic butter shrimp recipe, perfect for a quick meal!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 tablespoons cold unsalted butter
  • 2 leaves bay leaves (optional)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons Creole or Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 cup lower-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 pound jumbo (16/20) unpeeled raw shrimp
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • 1 loaf warm crusty baguette

Instructions

  1. In a large cast-iron skillet, melt 3 tablespoons of cold unsalted butter over medium-high heat until the foam dissipates and the butter smells nutty, about 4 minutes.
  2. Toss in the bay leaves (if desired), minced garlic, Creole seasoning, and freshly ground black pepper. Cook while stirring constantly for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the lower-sodium chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, and fresh lemon juice. Bring to a vigorous simmer and continue until the sauce reduces to about 2/3 cup, roughly 6 to 8 minutes.
  4. Add the unpeeled, raw shrimp to the skillet and reduce the heat to medium. Cover and stir often until the shrimp turn pink and are just cooked through, about 4 minutes.
  5. Turn off the heat and stir in the remaining 5 tablespoons of cold unsalted butter until it melts into the sauce, about 1 to 2 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley and serve with warm crusty baguette.

Notes

  • Bay leaves can be omitted if desired.
  • For a spicier kick, add more Creole or Cajun seasoning.
  • This dish pairs well with rice or pasta as well.
