Description

Deliciously spicy and sweet barbecue ribs that will impress your guests!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 racks pork ribs
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ribs:
    • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
    • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better flavor absorption.
    • Rub olive oil on the ribs.
  2. Make the Spice Rub:
    • In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.
    • Rub this mixture evenly over both sides of the ribs.
  3. Bake the Ribs:
    • Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Ensure the ribs are meaty side up.
    • Cover the ribs with another sheet of foil and seal tightly.
    • Bake in the oven for 2.5 to 3 hours or until the ribs are tender.
  4. Prepare the Spicy Glaze:
    • In a saucepan, combine barbecue sauce, hot sauce, and apple cider vinegar.
    • Simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes to blend the flavors.
  5. Glaze the Ribs:
    • Increase oven temperature to 400°F (200°C).
    • Remove the ribs from the oven and uncover.
    • Brush the ribs with the spicy glaze on both sides.
    • Return ribs to the oven, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes until the glaze caramelizes.
  6. Serve:
    • Let the ribs rest for a few minutes before slicing.
    • Serve with additional glaze on the side, if desired.

Notes

  • For even more flavor, consider marinating the ribs in the spice rub overnight in the fridge.
  • For a smoky flavor, consider grilling the ribs over indirect heat after baking for an additional 10-15 minutes.
  • Adjust the level of hot sauce and cayenne pepper according to your spice preference.
